Installation Troubleshooting

Step-by-step solutions for common installation issues with VX Core FX

Plugin Not Showing in DAW

1. Verify Installation Path

Make sure the plugin is installed in the correct location:

  • macOS VST3: /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/
  • macOS AU: /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/
  • Windows VST3: C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\
  • AAX: Check your DAW's AAX folder

2. Rescan Plugins in Your DAW

Force your DAW to rescan for new plugins:

  • Ableton: Preferences → Plug-Ins → Rescan
  • Logic Pro: Logic Pro → Preferences → Plug-In Manager → Reset & Rescan
  • Pro Tools: Setup → Plug-Ins → Search for new plugins
  • FL Studio: Options → Manage Plugins → Find Plugins → Fast Scan

3. Check Plugin Format Compatibility

Ensure your DAW supports the plugin format you installed:

  • VST3: Supported by most DAWs on macOS and Windows
  • AU: macOS only (Logic, GarageBand, etc.)
  • AAX: Pro Tools only

4. Verify System Requirements

Confirm your system meets minimum requirements:

  • macOS 10.13 or later
  • Windows 10 or later
  • Intel or Apple Silicon processor
  • 4GB RAM minimum (8GB recommended)

License Activation Failed

1. Check Your Internet Connection

License activation requires an active internet connection

  • Ensure you're connected to the internet
  • Try disabling VPN temporarily
  • Check firewall settings aren't blocking the plugin

2. Verify License Key Format

Make sure you're entering the license key correctly:

  • Copy and paste the license key to avoid typos
  • License format: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX
  • Check for extra spaces at the beginning or end
  • License key is case-insensitive

3. Check Machine Limit

You can activate on up to 3 machines:

  • Log in to your account at voxuma.com
  • Go to My Account → Licenses
  • View active machines and deactivate unused ones
  • You can deactivate remotely without accessing the machine

4. Contact Support

If activation still fails:

  • Email [email protected] with your license key
  • Include error message screenshots
  • Mention your operating system and DAW
  • We typically respond within 24 hours

Installer Won't Run

1. Verify Download Integrity

Make sure the installer downloaded completely:

  • Re-download the installer from your account page
  • Check file size matches the expected size
  • Try a different browser if issues persist

2. macOS Gatekeeper Issues

If macOS blocks the installer:

  • Right-click the installer and select "Open"
  • Or: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Allow app
  • You may need to enter your admin password
  • This is normal for apps from outside the App Store

3. Windows SmartScreen

If Windows Defender blocks the installer:

  • Click "More info" on the warning dialog
  • Click "Run anyway"
  • You may need administrator privileges
  • Add voxuma.com to trusted sites if needed

4. Run as Administrator (Windows)

Try running the installer with elevated privileges:

  • Right-click the installer
  • Select "Run as administrator"
  • Enter admin credentials if prompted

Permission Errors

1. macOS System Permissions

Grant necessary permissions on macOS:

  • System Settings → Privacy & Security
  • Allow the installer to make changes
  • May need to allow "Developer Tools" for some DAWs
  • Restart your DAW after granting permissions

2. Plugin Folder Permissions

Verify write permissions to plugin folders:

  • Open Finder/File Explorer
  • Navigate to the plugin installation directory
  • Right-click → Get Info (macOS) or Properties (Windows)
  • Check that you have read and write permissions

3. Manual Installation

If automatic installation fails, try manual:

  • Download the plugin package
  • Locate the .vst3 or .component file
  • Manually copy to the correct plugin folder
  • Restart your DAW and rescan plugins

4. Disable Security Software Temporarily

Security software may block installation:

  • Temporarily disable antivirus/firewall
  • Run the installer
  • Re-enable security software after installation
  • Add voxuma.com to whitelist if needed
